To the sea we will go
It finally happened.
After months of painstaking planning, the field measurement works started this morning. The start date was a rush job though as we expected to start sometime in late Jan. Thank God someone decided to check on the position of the moon. If not, we wouldn't have found out that Middle, Neap and Spring Tides would occur on the 9th, 14th and 19th.
A total of 12 boats (Class A & B) will be used together with 50++ manpower. Four of them would be brown water navy collecting samples upstream while the rest would be blue water navy, in the open sea. They would be at sea and river (well, more or less at the same spot) for 48 continous hours, collecting samples every hour. Apart from that, we have 3 units of ADCP deployed in from of the river mouth to assist us in the data collection.
I wouldn't mind joining if the boat is moving but it's not! Stationary at one spot, bobbing up and down in high waves is definitely not my cup of tea. Mind you, it is monsoon season and based on today's weather and sea report, rain all day long with waves between 3 to 4 meters.
Think I'll be a landlubber this time round :D
