The Unexpected Gift
Yesterday, a package came from halfway around the world. Inside was this :

A tie!!! As my birthday present.
Cun wa cakap lu. Red background with whales as the motif. 'Go save the whales'. Heh heh, the person who sent it knows I work with the environment. So a befitting present.
A card was also presented "Slowmover, move faster will ya. Signed xxxx"
To that person, you know who you are, thanks a lot from me. You really made my day.
Sorry I didn't get you one.

The Month of June
The month of June is quite significant to me.
The happy ones :
1. I met my ex
2. I was part of the biggest convoy to Yala, Thailand - 200 over bikes
3. My nephew's birthday
4. Mine too
5. My Rush "Rock in Rio" DVD has arrived, finally
The sad ones :
1. My grandfather died of old age
2. My favourite cat died of kidney failure
**********
A few sundays ago, got nothing better to do, selongkared the store. Found two boxes sealed. Apa lagi..bukaklah kan? Inside were my things from the past (my pre-teen/teenage/early 20s years), packed by the warden (mom). Bila dia buat nih?
1. Found the rest of my Rush CDs, but still missing is my "Counterparts" album
2. Found my Marillion collection from 1983 until 1989, including the famous trilogy albums (trilogy means 3, but how about the last one?)- Fugazi=Anger, Script for a Jester's Tear=Despair, Misplaced Childhood=Hope and Clutching at Straws=Addiction (call this the 3.5 album)
3. My collection of female singers/group (I was a teenager la - raging hormones hehe) Sam Fox, Sabrina, Indigo Girls (eh?), Go-Gos, The Bangles, Berlinda Carlisle
4. My posters (tak dibuang pulak) of Sam Fox and Sabrina (dapat free masa beli) with their big boobs.
5. My collection of Swimwear magazines (pun tak dibuang). Ahhhh..Lyn Austin and Teri Lynn Doss. They later went on to pose in Playboy. TLD is now a housewife with kids while LA hosted on the Playboy Channel. Masih lagi ka?
6. My collection of MBA books/materials..tak pakai lagi dah, outdated mah
7. The best of all..my 1 feet tall Ultraman patung together with his human form, Goh I think he was called, in his orange suit, siap dengan helmet and the ray gun. Woo hoo, warden tak buang..dia simpan. Ni time kecik kecik dulu siut.
All these things brings back good and bad memories on my younger years. Tu yang I feel happy-happy ni. Ahaks (DG, tiru style gelak kau kejap)

Marbles Parts I - IV (Steve Hogarth) another repost
Did anyone see my last marble
As it rolled out and over the floor?
It fell through a hole in the corner
Of a room in a town on a tour
It's lonely without your last marble
I miss it not rattling around
As I lie in my bed there's a space in my head
Where there used to be colours and sound..
When I was a child I had marbles
They brought admiration and fame
They were pretty to look at and marbles
Was always my favourite game
We played all the summer days
In the stony alleyways
In the playground after class
We would trade the coloured glass
More valuable than diamonds
More magical than diamonds
Did anyone see..
Did anyone see..
Does anyone see?
There were almost four hundred until the black day
I discovered how high they would fly to the sky
If you used them for tennis instead of a ball..
Zinging glass satellites crueller than fate
Whacked with a racket up into the blue
I'd smashed all the greenhouses on the estate
And a crowd formed a queue at the gate..
That was almost the end of my marbles
Confiscated, I choked back the tears
I hung onto a handful of favourites
That disappeared over the years
Did anyone see my last marble
I swear that I had it before
Sometimes I think I should go see a shrink
In case he can find me some more
Did anyone see my last marble?
I’d saved it to give it away
Since I was a youth
Now I don't have no proof
Only words
Only words
Only words.
I think I lost some of my marbles too..ehem ehem

Victor (W. H. Auden) - repost
Victor was a little baby, into this world he came:
His father took him on his knee and said:'Don't dishonour the family name.'
Victor looked up at his father- loked up with big round eyes
His father said:'Victor, my only son, don't you ever tell lies.'
It was a frosty December, it wasn't the season for fruits;
His father fell dead of heart disease while lacing up his boots.
It was a frosty December when into his grave he sank;
His uncle found Victor a post as a cashier in the Midlands Counties bank.
It was a frosty December Victor was only eighteen.
But his figures were neat and his margins straight and his cuffs were always clean.
He took a room at the Peveril, a respectable boarding-house
And Time watched Victor day after day as a cat will watch a mouse.
Victor went up to his bedroom, set the alarm bell;
Climbed into his bed, took his bible and read of happend to Jezebel.
It was the First of April, Anna to the Peveril came;
Her eyes, her lips, her breasts, her hips and her smile set men aflame.
It was the Second of April, she was wearing a coat of fur;
Victor met her upon the stairs and fell in love with her.
The first time he made his proposal, she laughed, said,'I'll never wed'
The second time there was a pause, then she shook her head.
Anna looked at the mirror, pouted and gave a frown; Said:'Victor's as dull
as a wet afternoon but I've got to settle down.'
The third time he made his proposal, as they walked by the Reservoir,
She gave him a kiss like a blowon the head, said,'You are my heart's desire.'
They married early in August, she said;'Kiss me, you funny boy'
Victor took her in his arms and said:'O my Helen of Troy.'
The clerks were talking of Anna, the door was just ajar
One said:'Poor old Victor, but where ignorance is bliss, etcetera.'
Victor looked up at the sunset as he stood there all alone;
Cried:'Are you in Heaven, Father ?', but the sky said 'Address not known.'
Victor looked up at the mountains, the mountains all covered with snow;
Cried:'Are you pleased with me, Father?' and the answer came back, No.
Victor came to the forest, cried:'Father, will she ever be true ?'
And the oaks and the beeches shook their heads and they answered:' Not to you.'
Victor came to the meadow where the wind went sweeping by:
Cried:'O Father, I love her so,' but the wind said:' She must die.'
Victor came to the river running so deep and so still;
Crying:'O Father, what shall I do ?' and the river answered:'Kill.'
Anna was sitting at table, drawing cards from a pack;
Anna was sitting at table waiting for her husband to come back.
Victor stood in the doorway, he didn't utter a word;
She said:'What's the matter, darling?' He behaved as if he hadn't heard.
There was a voice in his left ear, there was a voice in the right,
There was a voice at the base of his skull saying:'She must die tonight.'
Victor picked up a carving knife, his features were set and drawn,
Said;'Anna, it would have been better for you if you had not been born.'
Anna jumped up from the table, Anna started to scream,
But Victor came slowly after her like a horror in a dream.
She dodged behind the sofa, she tore down a curtain rod,
But Victor came slowly after her, said' Prepare to meet Thy God.'
He stood there above the body, he stood there holding the knife;
And the blood ran down the stairs and sang; 'I am the Resurrection and the Life.'
They tapped Victor on the shoulder, they took him away in a van;
He sat as quiet as a lump of moss saying; 'I am the Son of Man.'
Victor sat in a corner
Making a woman of clay.
Saying:' I am Alpha and Omega, I shall come
To judge the earth one day.'
His father took him on his knee and said:'Don't dishonour the family name.'

Two Races This Weekend
MotoGP will have their Dutch TT this Saturday on 25 June 2005 and it's live on TV. Meanwhile, World Superbikes will be at San Marino on 26 June 2005. There won't be any live telecast (unless I have Sky), guess I'll have to make do with live coverage on internet radio WSB
Alamak, got date this Saturday. How??? Nevermindla, can always view the results on the net MotoGP and watch the race later (sure got repeat). Ala, biasala..Rossi's gonna win again.
Update:
Tukar hari Ahad pulak. The date, not the Dutch TT la. Happy watching.

Mangkuk Hayun
For the past few working days I've been coming late to the office. Not that I'm lazy but I have to work in KL (more like "ronda-ronda"ing), going to a Government agency. What do I do? Send documents (despatch termahal) and discuss work with them. Typical of this Dept, discussion revolves mostly around the breakfast table at their canteen.
My Admin Manager is pissed off with me. Can always hear her snide remarks to my secretary "Ingat ni opis bapak dia ke? Apasal banyak sangat entertainment ni?". Eh Makcik, you think I can't hear you from my room ke?
HELLLLOOOO...I belanja breakfast aje...bukan bawak pi karaoke. Mangkuk hayun betul!
This makcik and I have this "little" feud going on since we both came on board the company. Back then she was in Treasury while I did business development. Dari dulu pun asyik complain pasal my entertainment bills. Habis, nak buat camna? Comes with the territory. DUH!
Fast forward 5 years later, she's still on my case. Ini kes tak puas hati...orang lain selalu keluar office while she has to stay and guard the fort. Hahaha, padan muka kau.
What's the punchline line here? Dunno. Just wanted to vent out my frustration I guess. Just to annoy her (again), I have an early morning meeting in KL tomorrow. Sumpah! Hahahaha

My First Time Racing
The one and only competitive racing event that I took part was in the late 90's. The Honda EX5 Endurance Challenge Cup (kapchai racing mah) at the Batu Tiga Circuit. All the bikes were identically supplied by Boon Siew Honda and only limited modifications were allowed.
There wasn't enough racers (Cub Prix was in season and the racing teams would not allow their contracted racers to compete) and we were roped in to fill up the grid. The rules of endurance racing for this cup means having three riders in a team and each rider can only race up to maximum no of minutes in an hour (rotational basis).
That was my first time racing on a kapchai. Please bear in mind that riding and racing kapchais are two different beasts. I have zero experience in racing them. My first time racing on one was during the practise session on Friday, two days before the actual race. Anyway, we sent our best rider for qualifying and we qualified in the lower teens for the grid.I was the third rider on team.
On race day itself, the paddock was a hive of activities. It was a rolling start i.e. the race started with the riders running to their bikes waiting at the start line (held by a mechanic). We, the waiting riders lined up against the pitwall looking at the rolling start and cheered our respective riders.
Once the race started, we just sat there twiddling our thumbs waiting for our turn. Despite the calm within us, you could see all the riders were itching to race. I could feel my adrenalin level pumping on high, eventhough my turn has yet to come. When my turn came, we had some problems with the bike. Ah Heng (the second rider)told me the front brakes were feeling spongey. The rear sprocket was also dry. The mechanics sprayed some lubricating oil on the rear sprocket and tightened the nuts for the front brakes. That cost us some time.
I also botched up my launch when I left the pit in the second gear. The bike was spluttering until I corrected the gearing. Malu-malu. I think I rode okay but we were way down the field. The brakes were downright spongey and I had to brake earlier than I thought I should. My concentration was wholly on the race. It was so intense. I thought if they had checked my heartbeat then it must have gone through the roof. When my time was up I was knackered like hell and I slumped against the my pit wall.
We rode well that day with no incidents. We didn't win of course since we were all novices and racing for the first time in our lives.

Sakit Mak Oooiiii!!!!
Last night after work went to the newly opened gym. Had my fitness check-up. I have xx% body fat (I know, I know I'm fat) and I'm only 63% fit. The trainer asked me what I needed and told them I want better endurance and lose the goddamn fat. I also showed him my surgically corrected right knee (I have a steel kneecap..wish I had the money to go titanium) which will always set off the metal detectors at the airport.
"Aaaa..weak legs that I see. 10 sessions with me, stronger legs you'll have"
Macam Yoda dia cakap.
Ok, so I signed up for the 10 sessions. Terbang duit lagi.
The point is, the sessions haven't even started! The fitness test was a murder. Cycling wasn't that bad (longgar lutut kejap)...but the thigh stretching part..aaarrrgghh, was f**king killing me. My dear ligaments/muscles, I'm sorry that I've put you up to this.
But since there were too many good looking ladies around (plus this lady friend of mine was also there), buat macho ajelah. (Next time nak ajak minum lepas gym, cakap la betul-betul..there is this communicating tool called handphone you know)
Today my legs feel like jelly and I'm walking like a penguin adoiii..sakit

Damn!
I started the day off with the lyrics to this song...
Begin the day with a friendly voice
A companion unobtrusive
Plays the song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood
Off on your way, hit the open road
There is magic at your fingers
For the Spirit ever lingers
Undemanding contact in your happy solitude
While driving received a call from a friend, crying her heart out..telling me she just left her bf. By the time I reach the office, I got this in my head..
Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Damn! I'm now in a foul mood. This is not how my day should start.

My Sunday
Dad woke me up early at 9 am. Reason? Last day of Clark's Warehouse sale. By 10 am was in Shah Alam and for the first time in my life, my, my, I see manners by the patrons to the sale (are they Malaysians?). There were no pushing, queue jumping etc. Phew! However, my pocket was lighter by about RM300, bought a pair each for mom and dad.
*********
Next stop was at Giant Shah Alam. Mom said since I'm staying with them again, it's about time for me to pick up some of the grocery bills. Ok, no sweat. Also, she said it's time for me learn back the name of the fishes, the veggies and their prices. Ok, I still know cencarus, tenggiri, kurau, jenahak and so on. Have to brush up again on my bawals: cermin, hitam and putih. Veggies are a problem coz I'm non-vegetarian. But I do know my kangkungs and kailans..but the rest hampeh! My pocket was lighter by another RM150.
*********
A word of advise to everyone. Never ever invite me to go out/or disturb me on a Race day. Not F1 (what is that anyway?) but MotoGP. I do not know you or acknowledge your existence on that day. Understood?
The 250 race was much more exciting with Pedrosa coming on top in a five rider battle. The motoGP class was predictable as ever with Rossi triumphant over Gibernau. Battle for third position was between Melandri, Barros and Hayden (in that order when they crossed the finish line). Melandri has just got to stop going in too hot into corners as he keeps opening doors for others to pass him when he's wide. He should be thankful for the Honda's horsepower to help him recover his position upon exit of the apexes.

Operation Mindcrime
Lately I have been downloading quite a number of songs. Tonite's mission was to download the whole Operation Mindcrime album by Queensryche. Yup, all 15 of them. Back then, I only had cassette of the album and had gone to high heaven a long time ago. Trying to find a CD of it, you have to go to Victoria and being me, I'm just too lazy to go (I think they have branches at Atria and BSC).
The problem with Mindcrime, it is a concept album, therefore one song leads to another. You have to listen to the whole album. I have downloaded 8 and need 7 more. I'm missing the early parts and the ending, which are BIG files. "Suite Sister Mary" alone takes up almost 17K on mp3 format. I also need "I Remember Now" and "Anarchy-X" and "My Empty Room" to name a few.
Frustrated at not being able to download the rest, I took the liberty to download another scary song (as Stellar would call it) "Don't Break the Circle", originally sung by Demon. The one I downloaded was by Blind Guardian. Close to the original..not bad. This song is about THE uninvited guest (don't need me to tell who, right?). Thinking back..gila jugak aku nih masa dulu!
Ok...here goes, the story of Mindcrime.
6:00 P.M.
Our friend Nikki, charged with several counts of murder involving members of this city's political and religious leaders, has been committed to State Hospital under heavy security. London-born nurse, Debbie, seems determined to administer the tranquilizer and give us her personal feelings regarding her patient. Hmm? Injection completed, Nikki listens to his favorite tape and retraces his past.
I Remember Now
page: "Dr. Davis, telephone please Dr. Davis, telephone please Dr. Blair, Dr. Blair, Dr. J. Hamilton, Dr. J. Hamilton" News Broadcast: "...the Soviets... In other news the bizarre murders of political and religious leaders that have shocked this city over the last month seemed to have ended as suddenly as they began. No terrorist groups ... responsibility for the slayings, but police have a suspect in custody under observation in a state hospital. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation. Sports and weather next..." Nurse: "It's ten minutes past curfew, why are you still up? Hello? Hello? Perhaps you need another shot. Ah, that should do it. Sweet Dreams, you bastard." Nikki: "I remember now, I remember how it started. I can't remember yesterday, I just remember doing what they told me..told me..told me..told me."
Anarchy-X
Weeks ago in Occidental Park, hundreds of people gathered for a political rally. There was a man shouting above all the others: "Do we have freedom? Do we have equality? This country's changing! It is no longer for all of the people! It is for some of the people!" The man's name? "Dr. X."
Revolution Calling
....Ring!....Ring! The phone hasn't stopped ringing since the hypnotic meeting with Dr. X. His plan is brilliant in its simplicity: assassination and replacement. He calls it, "Operation: Mindcrime," and Nikki is the key player. Nikki has a weakness. He likes the needle. Dr. X makes sure Nikki feels good so he can do a good job. The chosen "Death Angel" is then easily manipulated through subliminal suggestion over the telephone. The password into Nikki's brain is "mindcrime."
Operation: Mindcrime
Nikki was a loser. A street kid, left to fend for himself at a young age. He was independent, and unpredictable, but harmless. Except now he had a philosophy, and that made him dangerous. "Revolution!" was the word on his lips as he stood in the streets and screamed, "Hey, listen to me!"
Speak
Mary worked the S&M shows in Times Square. At seventeen she met Father William, who arranged her cloister with "Our Lady of Immaculate Pain." A new life. A different way of living. Except for her debt with him, which was expected to be paid in full, weekly, "...on the altar. Like a sacrifice." When she was eighteen, Father William introduced her to a man named Dr. X. Now she works for him.
Spreading the Disease
Nikki spends quite a lot of time these days in his room; drawing gruesome, detailed depictions of his victims' deaths upon the dingy white walls. Drowning in guilt, he sees Sister Mary as his only means to salvation. He lights another candle and flips through the TV channels one by one. The familiar face of Father William appears. Is it wrong? Is it right? ....Ring!.....Ring!....."mindcrime!!" Decision made. News Broadcast: "...informing Washington, a technical violation of the 1972 ABM Treaty..." Preacher: "...I'm asking for hands to be uplifted in just a moment. God the Holy Ghost is calling out to embrace you. I want you to reach deep into your hearts and your pocketbooks and take his hand. Nikki: "Bless me father for I have sinned" Preacher: "Some of you are in a state of rebellion right now you're saying..."
The Mission
A long, satin black sedan slides to a stop in front of Nikki. The rain, beading on the dark, tinted windows, distorts his reflection. Bemused by his melting facial features, he's startled as the electric window descends revealing the smiling face of Dr. X. "Kill her," he said. "and get the priest as well." "Kill Mary?," asks Nikki.
Suite Sister Mary
Father William lay crumpled on the stairs leading to the sanctuary. Mary watches in disgust as her lover Nikki's troubled face dissolves into the leering, drooling face of the priest huffing and puffing above her. "...Altar...sacrifice..." something snaps inside her head. Nikki feels the coldness overtake her. He pulls away, vowing to kill Dr. X and set them both free of their master's manipulations. Pulling closed the huge door behind him, he stumbles into the rainy night to keep his appointment with his "maker."
The Needle Lies
After Nikki leaves, Mary is plagued by the vision of Nikki turning into Father William. As they made love on the altar, the memories came flooding back. Years filled with men who has used her, degraded and beaten her, and driven their hatred and coldness into her heart. Once, she thought Nikki was her hope. But now he seemed like all the rest. She hated him. She hated men. She hated life. "Anybody home?" Unable to shake his addiction, and feeling beaten in his confrontation with Dr. X, Nikki returns. "Mary?" He finds her dead in her room.
Electric Requiem
Unable to accept Mary's death, Nikki runs like a raving madman through the streets calling her name. Everywhere he looks he sees her face.
Breaking The Silence
The police arrest Nikki. The charges are: disorderly conduct, carrying a concealed weapon without a license, and resisting arrest. They know he's a junkie because of the tracks on his arms. His weapon also matches the one used in a string of recent killings. Nikki isn't making much sense now, babbling on about perverted priests, some kind of covert operation, and not believing in love.
I Don't Believe In Love / Waiting For 22
Left alone, Nikki thinks of Mary; of the night she died, and why. He wonders about his future. Who will be there to care for him and be his friend?
My Empty Room
Charged with several murders, Nikki is committed to State Hospital to overcome his addiction. Awaiting trial, he suffers insomnia and is delirious. Searching through his past, he tries to find reasons for his actions and his weaknesses. Staring into the mirror, he sees a stranger.

See You In Hell My Friend
Today I kept hearing this song playing over and over at the back of my mind.
See you in hell
can i make you an offer
you can't refuse
i kept my eyes on you
cause i tell you that you lose
and you can come with me
to a place you'll know so well
and i will take you
to the very gates of hell
See you in hell my friend
See you in hell my friend
See you in hell my friend
I'll see you in hell!!!
Your choice's made up then
how many sins can be yours
at my kingdom final choice
is yours!
you can take it
any time that you need
next thing I'll borrow
all you've got to do is bleed
Come with me, i will take you down
to the very depths of your soul
and i'll make you burn!!!
See you...see you in hell!!!
See you...see you in hell!!!
See you in hell!!!
can i make you an offer
you can't refuse
i kept my eyes on you
cause i tell you that you lose
and you can come with me
to a place you'll know so well
like i told you
at the very gates of hell
Note:
See you in hell by Grim Reaper came out in 84. As I studied in a boarding school, this song was quite a "special" song to us (those who stayed in Dorm 2 - 85 and 3 - 86 of East Wing, Big School would know) and we played it sparingly, usually only a few days before the start of fasting month. After that no more was played for the year until the next fasting month. The funny thing is, no other dorms would play this song except us. The tradition died when we left in 86.
I have downloaded the song for my hearing pleasure once in a while.

My admin staff is coming out with crazy ideas for our site office. Ada ke nak letak Astro, sofa etc etc for the site office. She said for our comfort. Wei, orang nak kerjalah, habis kerja balik hotellah...ada health centre (hehe).
I also have to purchase three site cars and motorbikes. We have identified two Rextons, one Waja and three Kriss to be purchased. That is not so hard. The hard part is to purchase a sea-going vessel (8 seater, twin engined with 80 horses for each engine). Must be able to travel in shallow river also. Alamak, jadi brown water navy pulak aku. We have found one, but it costs like RM400K and made to order. Delivery time..3 to 4 months. No hire purchase pulak tu.

Our site is at DPM's constituency. So you have so many figures, each representing their own interests, coming to us asking for this and that. Name dropping is nothing to them (tak tebal muka punya jenis). Politics..I hate them!

Lang Tengah Island 18-21 May 2005
During my week long leave I went to Redang Lang Tengah Island (18-21/5/05) for my Open Water Dive (OWD) Certification (max at 18m). Since I will be working in Tioman Island, Pahang also (running concurrently with my river dredging works in another part of Pahang) on beach rehabilitation works, which will also involve coral rejuvenation, I thought why not kill two fishes with one spear? i.e. diving for work purposes and also leisure (maybe I can get to dive for free since I'll be employing divers to map the corals in the work area - wishful thinking).
While I paid for my lessons, I hope to charge to the company for the equipment I shall be using (another wishful thinking) or get one of my contractors to buy them for me (very likely).
I'll let the pictures do the talking.
This is where I stayed

Redang Lang Resort. Clean and friendly services. Nothing fancy. If you expect a 5 star resort, try next door - the Blue Coral.
My 1st underwater picture!

Yup, that's me, giving the ok sign. I was the only who dived wearing t-shirt and shorts. The others wore wetsuits.
The boat used for diving

The guys went for a deep dive trip (Razorback Point) on the 2nd day. I wasn't allowed to go as I have yet to finish my 4th and final compulsory OWD. Did dive there on the 3rd day (my 6th dive) to the bottom at 25m. Point of dive? Navigation/Compass Reading by instructor and search & rescue (looking for Wong's mask which came off and went missing - never did find it though)
The Divers

Wong (with the sunglasses), Daniel (divemaster) and Balqesh. We were looking at the pictures taken underwater.

Wong (again), Stanley (Dive Instructor) and Fritz (a 70+ yr old friendly chap who went diving with us with his wife, Winnie). Not in any of the pictures are Dennis and Winnie
The wildlife on the island

A chameleon which made its home on my balcony.
I really had fun here!!!
